We have the pleasure to share with you the joy and the atmosphere that prevailed at the School of Reference “Child friendly “of Matana on the 7th November, 2015.

A weekend unlike any other in the history of this young school! On 7th November, 2015, the School of Reference has had its first opportunity to demonstrate to the public that it really aim for Excellency.

The opportunity was offered by a local association named " RUKUNDO"  “LOVE” in English which trains the youth for peace education and environment protection. This association has organized a tournament of basketball in the region where our school is located around the theme “Youth Mobilization for Peace towards sustainable development.”

When the Director of the school subscribed the girls’ team for the tournament, no one believed that such young girls and new in the game were going to hold it up against larger schools and experienced in front of their parents and the Matana community.

The first match counting for the playoffs has been delivered against the High School of Matana which is very close to the school of Reference.

While the High School of Matana selected its players from the 7th Grade to the 13th Grade, our young talented girls were not afraid of play against them to a crushing score of 32 points against 2 points.

This gave them the qualification to play the final against the team of the Technical Secondary School of Kiryama. This final had coincided with the beginning of the break for the school and all parents of student were there to support the team and take their children for the 4 days break.

The public seated in the stands were very surprised to see how these young girls dominated the game from the beginning to the end. The final score was 25 against 9 in favor of the school of Reference.

During the speeches, everyone kept coming back to the happy surprise of this young school which did no wait a second to show its Excellency.

The parents returned full of joy to see their children this talented as returning for the break.

Many thanks go to the parents for their patience and their supports, to the school as well as to any organization which has contributed or who continues to contribute in order for the school of Reference reaches its objectives.
