

The Need
Burundi is the third poorest country in the world with a GDP (PPP) of only $648.[i] 81% of the popultation lives under the poverty line (less than 1.25 USD per day). [ii]
Poverty is one of the main problems faced by children in Burundi. It is the reason that many children go hungry, fall ill, and are unable to go to school among other problems. Therefore, in order to improve the situation for orphans and vulnerable children in Burundi, we must first combat the extreme poverty in their families.
FVS-AMADE reinforces the economic situation of vulnerable households caring for OVC.
