In 2005, during the execution of the judgment rendered in favor of a young orphan named  NDAYUBAHA, beneficiary of the FVS-AMADE Burundi residing in the Nyarusange Commune in Gitega province, the judges accompanied by representatives of the FVS-AMADE, returning to implement the judgment rendered for him returning rightful property,  heard that this young orphan victim of spoliation had passed away the week before due to the lack of financial means to access to medical care. And many other similar cases had been held.

This called for the creation of the Community-based Health Insurance Tuzokira Twese in 2013 which means "the desire to have a good health" dedicated to Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVC)  promoted by the Fvs-Amade Burundi.

This non-profit voluntary association was put in place with the purpose of facilitating the financial access to medical care to its beneficiaries in a sustainable and autonomous way.

In the month of October 2015, between the Community-based Health Insurance Tuzokira Twese Tuzokira Twese in Bururi province and the Mugamba Commune parish, have concluded a partnership agreement to provide the service coverage of medical care to OVC.  For this start-up period of the partnership, the Mugamba parish will support 150 OVC for  4,500 FBU around 3$USD per child and per year.

Now, all these children enrolled each have a membership book which is valid for a period of twelve months and will be valid since 1st November, 2015. The one who will have the misfortune of falling ill will receive treatment directly from the 5 Health Center(HCs), and 2 hospitals in or around the commune.

However, they have the full right to seek healthcare in other Health Centers partner to the Community-based Health Insurance Tuzokira Twese Tuzokira Twese In Bururi Province which are located in other communes (currently, they are 6 hospitals, 38 HCs, 5 pharmacies and 2 ophthalmology clinics).

Thanks to the system of inter-mutuality introduced at the beginning of this year 2015, the beneficiaries also have the right to medical attention at the level of health centers and hospitals located in other provinces where the Community-based Health Insurance Tuzokira Twese Tuzokira Twese is already present. These provinces are: Rumonge, Makamba, Gitega and Bujumbura Mairie.

Such partnerships will save many human lives in general and OVC in particular; our desire is that there is many other partnership of the kind to avoid cases like the one of this young boy Ndayubaha to never happen again.

We are seeking for support for material and financial resources in order to continue promote the medical care of the vulnerable in view of the sustainability of the Health Insurance.
