On September 5th, FVS-AMADE Honors School « Amie des Enfants » had a cheerful school opening. Sports counselors from PLAY INTERNATIONAL, a French NGO, facilitate a warming gym class. Group sports associated with small quizzes made old and new students get to know each other. PLAY INTERNATIONAL activities were an ice breaker and an energizer for the students to feel comfy and eager to succeed the school year.

The students started the gym class timidly but at the end of the day they knew each other and they wanted to continue to play. Living in a boarding school is a new experience for many students. PLAY INTERNATIONAL activity was essential to chase separation anxiety.

The school activities were officially launched in the afternoon after the national flag-raising. With all the school staff members, Dieudonné Manampa, the school director, wished a happy and successful year to the students. While welcoming the students, Spès Nihangaza, the school legal representative emphasized on the school project aims. As its name says, the school is committed to providing high-quality education to prepare both highly qualified technicians and upright leaders who will make their parents and their country proud.

Created by FVS-AMADE BURUNDI, “Amie des Enfants” Honors School welcomes orphans and other vulnerable children with excellent marks but whose families cannot send them to good high schools. The school legal representative urged the other students to welcome them like their brothers and sisters. All the students went in their classrooms for a first contact with their head teachers.

“Amie des Enfants” Honors was launched in September 2014, it currently hosts 202 students of which 20 orphans and other vulnerable children.
