Grand Opening of our Secondary School « Amie des Enfants »!

Yesterday, September 15, 2014, marked a big day for FVS-AMADE. After over 2 years of preparation, we are proud to announce the opening of our new secondary school « Amie des Enfants » in Matana! Our school welcomes students with the best grades and test scores, amongst whom 30% are orphans and other vulnerable children. Our school is a school of excellence, ranging from the infrastructure to the education. By the time they graduate, our students will be bilingual in English/French and have the technological savvy needed to succeed in our modern global society. Furthermore, they will have opportunities to participate in other extra-curricular activities such as sports and community service. The parents dropping of children reported feeling confident that they were leaving them in good hands, especially in a boarding school supervised by nuns. One happy father even announced that he already had plans to sign up his two younger children as soon as they were old enough to join the daughter he was dropping off. The students were excited to spend the next year at the school with hot water and computers- new things for several of the students! Our teachers, chosen from a competitive process, have already begun to train the future leaders of Burundi. The construction and opening of the school was made possible thanks to our donors, l’AMADE Monidale and the Principauté de Monaco. Another new donor, Forgoteen Song has also commited to helping us create income generating projects to support the orphans school fees. We are very grateful for the support of all our donors.
